Judith Beck Weissburgunder 2020
Starting as a small group of farms, the Beck family always grew vines for the purposes of agricultural diversity and when Matthias Beck took over in 1975, he decided to focus on making wines, with the 5 hectares of vines now having expanded to 15 hectares, Judith took over in 2001 and begun the conversion to biodynamic viticulture in 2007. Preferring to work with the traditional varieties, she grows Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch, Sankt Laurent, Weissburgunder and Chardonnay on the low, sun exposed slopes of her vineyards that feature a varied mix of soils, even in a single vineyard. Working holistically and focusing on maintaining the health of the vines and the soils throughout, she uses only biological fertilisers and works exclusively by hand in accordance with the lunar cycles. This is a perfect introduction to Judith's style of wines, fresh notes of ripe apple and pear balanced with plenty of floral aromas. Lovers or Pinot Blanc look no further.
